Steel Coil Leveling Machines

The Steel Coil Leveling Machines (also known as a leveler or straightener) in a cold roll forming production line is a key piece of equipment located after the uncoiler and before the forming machine.  It is a crucial pre-processing device for ensuring final product quality. Its core task is to pass a metal strip (sheet) that still has residual stress, bends, wavy edges, and camber defects after uncoiling through a precisely controlled multi-stage roll gap, subjecting the strip to a series of decreasing reverse bending deformations (flattening and straightening).  This effectively eliminates the original bends, wavy edges, and internal stresses in the coil, resulting in a flat, straight, and stress-free state. This provides qualified raw material for subsequent precision forming, cut-to-length cutting, or punching.

  • Basic Structure:

    Frame: A sturdy frame structure.

    Upper/Lower Straightening Roller Set: A core component. Typically, it consists of multiple cylindrical rollers arranged in a staggered pattern (commonly seen in odd numbers, such as 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, or 21).

    Upper Rollers: Typically mounted on a fully adjustable crossbeam, some or all of which can be independently adjusted (using a handwheel or motor).

    Lower Rollers: Typically fixed, or with only a few adjustable rollers. Drive rollers (driven by a motor through a reducer or gearbox) are typically located in the lower row.

    Gap Adjustment: Manually, electrically, or hydraulically driven, this mechanism precisely adjusts the downward pressure of the upper rollers relative to the lower rollers (i.e., straightening pressure/straightening pressure). High-precision machines allow for independent adjustment of each upper roller.

    Drive System: A motor, reducer, coupling, and gear distribution box rotate some or all of the lower rollers, pulling the strip forward. This system is typically synchronized with the production line speed.

    Guiding Devices: Side guide rollers or guide plates are typically installed at the inlet and outlet to prevent the strip from straying.

    Backup Rollers (Optional): For wide or thick plate straightening machines, support rollers are installed on the back (non-working) side of the work rolls to prevent excessive deflection.

    Lubrication System: Lubricates roller bearings.

    Protective Cover: Provides safety protection.
